The University of Naples “Parthenope” announced its participation in AWS Academy, an Amazon Web Services (AWS) program that provides higher education institutions with a ready-to-teach cloud computing curriculum. Beginning in the first semester of the academic year 2022/2023, students can enroll in courses that teach in-demand cloud skills. The introductive cloud computing courses allow them to solve business challenges based on industry scenarios and help prepare them to pursue industry-recognized AWS Certifications and in-demand jobs.

Introductory courses are recommended to all University of Naples “Parthenope” students as they aim to provide basic knowledge on cloud computing applicable to all sectors such as economics, law, science, engineering, and health. Other courses have a more technical purpose and are recommended for students of the degree courses in Computer Science, “Applied Computer Science, Machine Learning and Big Data” and “Computer Science and Engineering for Cybersecurity”. Some courses are delivered as part of teaching modules already in the students’ curricula. For the academic year 2022/2023, students who successfully attend AWS Academy courses can apply for the recognition of learning credits (ECTS) as additional knowledge or part of an internship from the respective degree program coordination councils. AWS Academy courses will be part of the regular classes in the next academic years.
For the academic year 2022/2023, the AWS Academy courses “AWS Academy Introduction to Cloud: Semester 1” and “AWS Academy Introduction to Cloud: Semester 2” each equivalent to 3 ECTS, will be delivered. Furthermore, the “AWS Academy Cloud Foundations” course will be integrated into the existing “Cloud Computing” course usually offered as part of the master’s degree course in “Applied Computer Science, Machine Learning and Big Data”. In addition, the University of Naples “Parthenope” will provide AWS Academy courses about databases, machine learning, and data science in the future.
The location chosen for the AWS Academy classes is the magnificent Villa Doria d’Angri, the XVIII century building on the Posillipo cliff already hosting high-level education initiatives.

The AWS Academy curriculum is developed and maintained by AWS experts, ensuring that it reflects current services and up-to-date practices. Courses are taught by AWS Academy educators trained to help students become proficient in AWS technology.

“We are proud to make the AWS Academy curriculum available to our students,” said professor Raffaele Montella, head of AWS Academy at the University of Naples “Parthenope”. “The rapid rise of cloud computing is creating a growing number of high-quality jobs at organizations worldwide, and the technical skills students develop through this program will position them well for their careers today and in the future.”.
